Details of the tour

One of our English speaking drivers will meet you at your hotel or at the pier of your ship or at the train station, holding a sign with your name on it and he will escort you to your private vehicle. From there you will drive to the Mount Vesuvio, one of the largest active volcanoes in Europe. Your driver will take you up about 1000 meters, from there you will hike up to the crater with a licensed guides in about 40 minutes walking. Once at the top you can walk around the big cone of the volcano and watching into the crater you will have the opportunity to observe (the steam/gas vents) but in the same time you will admire one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the bay of Naples and surrounding areas. Following this beautiful adventure you will get back to the car and together with your driver you will get to Pompeii. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Romans took control of Pompeii around 200 BC. On August 24, 79 AD, Vesuvius erupted, burying the nearby town of Pompeii in ash and soot, killing 20,000 people, and preserving the city in its state from that fateful day. Pompeii is an excavation (It: scavi) site and outdoor museum of the ancient Roman settlement. This site is considered to be one of the few sites where an ancient city has been preserved in detail - everything from jars and tables to paintings and people was frozen in time, yielding, together with neighbouring Herculaneum which suffered the same fate, an unprecedented opportunity to see how the people lived two thousand years ago. In Pompeii you will spend about 2 and an half hour with your personal guide visiting this amazing and unique Roman city. Highlights visited: Porta Marina (Sea gate); The Ground surface; Temple of Apollo; The Basilica; Forum; Forum Granary Artifacts; Baths; House of the Tragic Poet; Bars and Bakeries; House of the Faun; Street; Lupanar; Theater; After this amazing experience in about 20 minutes driving you will get at the feet of the Vesuvius where you will visit a great family winery for a light lunch, wine tasting and wine yards tour. At the end of the lunch your driver will take you back to your accomodation. This tour may be shortened depending on traffic conditions. We reserve the right to change the order in which we visit the sites. In case of heavy rain, the Vesuvius will be closed. The driver will suggest you an alternative itinerary (Sorrento or Naples). We would also advise that you take plenty of water, especially in the summer months, and ensure you are either well protected with sun cream or hats as there is very little shade in which to escape the sun. We also advise you to bring comfortable shoes for both the hike and the tour around Pompeii.
